Ho saputo del concerto di Adrian Snell da musictus, ho prenotato i posti tramite musictus, e ora Walter pretende da me una "recensione"... Beh, senza usare paroloni, quello che stiamo per darvi, Olga ed io, e' semplicemente qualche personalissima impressione. La prima cosa che mi ha colpito e' stata la "non ebraicita'" dello stile musicale. Stile che invece era a mio avviso quello tipico e personalissimo di Adrian, autore che del resto conosco e apprezzo da anni, quindi nessun problema. Solo credo che uno stile piu' ebraico avrebbe comunicato meglio il messaggio e l' "atmosfera" del discorso. Seconda impressione: l'impianto scenico. Per uno come me, poco abituato a frequentare concerti dal vivo, e' stato piacevole e decisamente positivo trovare luci in sintonia con il discorso musicale e un audio ben miscelato da un'ottima regia. Buona anche l'idea di offrire un libretto con testi e traduzioni, anche se la luce era per lo piu' troppo debole per consentire una lettura "in diretta". E poi c'era lei, ragazza minuta e agilissima, perfetta per la parte di Eva Pickova, con un viso incredibilmente espressivo (le trecce, poi, le davano un'incantevole aria "bambinesca"). Per quanto riguarda i testi lascio ad Olga, che continuera' questo messaggio, il compito di dire qualcosa. Per parte mia dico solo che anche noi, come Adrian, siamo da tempo alla ricerca delle radici ebraiche della nostra fede, e quindi ci siamo molto immedesimati in quello che veniva presentato. Un'ultima nota sull'organizzazione. Il concerto doveva essere alle 20:30 e veniva consigliato di arrivare in buon anticipo. Invece siamo stati lasciati fuori al freddo fino ad oltre le otto e mezzo e il concerto e' iniziato verso le nove e un quarto. Un'attesa che ci ha un po' spazientito perche' pensavamo a nostro figlio che avrebbe poi dormito a scuola e portato a casa le note di rimprovero delle insegnanti... Cosa che pero', grazie a Dio, non e' successa. Ora lascio spazio ad Olga. Sicuramente, almeno per me, un'ottima esperienza che e' valsa la pena fare. Shalom a tutti Marco Eccomi, sono Olga. Prima di passare ai commenti veri e propri, vorrei dire due parole sul nostro "lavoro", per chiarire meglio le cose che anche Marco ha gia' espresso. Noi faccciamo parte di un gruppo che ha una visione particolare per Israele, e tra i nostri obiettivi c'e' la ricerca delle radici ebraiche della nostra fede, ma anche la consolazione del popolo ebraico e la proclamazione che "la schiavitu' e' finita e l'iniquita' e' pagata". Detto questo, ecco le mie impressioni sul concerto di Adrian. Ho vissuto con un'emozione intensissima tutta la parte relativa alla Shoah (Olocausto), perche' oltretutto sto frequentando un corso di storia della Shoah e queste cose mi sono molto familiari. Ho trovato bellissima l'idea di rendere omaggio alle vittime della Shoah, "riassunte", se cosi' si puo' dire, in Eva Pikova. L'idea di ricostruire la storia del popolo ebraico attraverso testi di autori ebrei mi e' sembrata eccezionale, ma anche per me lo stile troppo occidentale ha un po' tolto forza al discorso. Inoltre, il titolo "City of Peace" mi avrebbe fatto pensare ad una storia di Gerusalemme, invece si e' trattato piu' della storia degli ebrei in generale. Ho fatto fatica a seguire il filo del discorso... Non so se mi spiego... La musica in se', comunque, mi e' sembrata interessante, anche se non penso che sia il miglior lavoro di Adrian. Mi piacerebbe sapere come e' stato recepito il lavoro, dal punto di vista testuale, da parte di qualcuno che non ha gia' una certa conoscenza della storia ebraica (non solo biblica). Se c'e' qualcuno pronto a raccogliere la proposta..... Un'ultima considerazione di carattere organizzativo. Io avrei tanto voluto invitare altre persone, alcuni amici ebrei e altri non evangelici. Purtroppo non mi sono sentita libera di farlo perche' non era chiara la questione del contributo. Mi spiego. Si era detto che l'ingresso era gratuito, ma che poi c'era bisogno di contribuire con circa 35.000 lire (poi e' stato detto 30.000). Non sapevo bene come porre la cosa ai potenziali invitati, cosi' ho evitato di proporre loro di venire. Suggerirei, per il futuro, di prevedere piuttosto un biglietto, in modo che uno sappia in anticipo a che cosa va incontro. Altrimenti si verifica il vecchio scherzo: "Entrata libera, uscita a pagamento!"... Scherzi a parte, e' stata comunque una bellissima serata, con bella musica e la presenza del Signore, che era contentissimo perche' si benediceva il Suo popolo eletto, la "pupilla del Suo occhio". Vi lascio dandovi un pezzettino di buona torta spirituale: leggetevi Zaccaria 8:23... Ma leggetelo!!! Tom Lane here. I have long intended to write in to the news letter and decided it was time to do it in celebration of Walter and Simonetta's marriage! The world lost a "great bachelor" but the two gained "great helpmates" to go through life with! A sincerly Big CONGRATULATIONS from your many friends here in Nashville! I am also writing to greet those of you who have become like family through our many trips to Italia. Though there are 5000 miles between us you come to our minds so often and we miss you very much between visits. I have wondered many times why I am so in love with you and your country. Besides Walter's mothers cooking, it is I think due to the great expression of God's character and spirit that is in you. The world and the church would not be complete without Italians! I wish to encourage you all as you enter the season of Jesus' birth with just a few thoughts: In our country the holiday of Christmas seems to have become more about gift giving and fairytales than celebrating Jesus. Few remember Him at all! In much the same way we make a lot of music and do many things in the name of God that really don't reflect Him at all. In each of us there is a gift that God desires to use for His purposes and glory above any other reason. We are called first to be ministers to Him. If we are artists, He is our primary audience and is waiting for our expressions to be given back to Him purely from our hearts, as a gift to Him who made us and is most worthy of it! We celebrate Christmas because it's the birthday of our King and Savior. We exist and have hope because He is more than a fairytale and purchased our lives with His own blood! We are creatively talented to please Him and spiritually gifted to serve Him and each other. I challenge you to find your meaning, purpose, and worth in Jesus and His redemptive purpose for your life and not in what you do. It is the anointing of His presence and power in you that gives your talent life, beauty, and effectiveness. Promote Him and He will promote you. Love Him and He will give you love for others. Serve Him and He will use you to win others. May you celebrate Jesus this Christmas and everyday the same. Worship Him and honor the Lord with your gifts and talents! The day is coming soon that He will reveal Himself and His glory in the earth like never before. He wants to visit your nation and needs you as His body to do it! The program of 2 1/2 hours was distinguished by its excellent artistic qualities as well as by the professional light and sound production and the dance choreography. Even under difficult acoustic circumstances (all six performances were staged in churches/cathedrals) the production crew was able to deliver high level performances. Only for the dancer, Marlou van Essen, was the stage occasionally not high enough for everybody to see. The story of the people of Israel was presented in a very moving way by songs, dance and narration. Frank van Essen with his sensitive and virtuoso percussion drumming and then, all of a sudden, with his tender violin playing impressed the audience. David Fitzgerald, a long-year friend of Snell, added with his saxes and all kinds of different flutes an extra polish to the performances. Marlou van Essen represented Eva Pickova, a girl that died in Auschwitz at age 14. But at the same time, Eva was a metaphor for the entire history of the Jewish people. Marlou's dances moved the audience powerfully. Adrian Snell, on center stage, with his introductions and comments as well as with his songs, took the audience on a journey over 6000 years of Jewish History. His way of presenting the theme, his songs full of emotion and depth, turned these evenings into unforgettable experiences. The Lord has been working in my life during these past couple of years... I encreasingly spend more time at His feet to know Him deeper every day... to learn how to truly worship Him, and how to use my talents for His glory! Qui e' Tom Lane che scrive. E' da tanto tempo che pensavo di scrivere qualcosa nella mailing list, ed ho deciso di farlo in occasione del matrimonio di Walter e Simonetta. Il mondo ha perso un "mitico celibe" ma i due hanno trovato "incredibili partners" con cui attraversare la vita! Un sincero augurio di congratulazioni da parte dei vostri numerosi amici qui a Nashville! Scrivo anche per salutare tutti coloro che attraverso i nostri viaggi in Italia sono diventati parte della famiglia. Anche se ci sono 6.000 km che ci dividono, ci tornate alla mente molto spesso e ci mancate tanto tra una visita e l'altra. Spesso mi sono domandato come mai sono cosi' innamorato della vostra Nazione. A parte la cucina della mamma di Walter, penso che sia dovuto alla grande espressione del carattere di Dio che e' in voi. Il mondo e la Chiesa non sarebbero completi senza gli italiani! Vorrei incoraggiarvi tutti con qualche pensiero mentre vi avviate verso la stagione che ricorda la nascita di Gesu': nella nostra Nazione sembra che le festivita' natalizie siano rivolte piu' ai regali e alle fiabe che alla celebrazione di Gesu'. Pochi si ricordano di Lui! Allo stesso modo, noi facciamo tanta musica e facciamo tante cose nel nome di Dio e che pure non lo riflettono per niente. In ognuno di noi c'e' un dono che Dio desidera utilizzare per i Suoi piani e per la Sua gloria piu' di qualunque altra cosa. Prima di tutto siamo chiamati ad essere ministri verso di Lui. Se siamo artisti, Lui e' il nostro primo pubblico e Lui aspetta che le nostre espressioni gli vengano restituite con purezza dai nostri cuori, come dono a Colui che ci ha creati e che ne e' sommamente degno! Noi celebriamo Natale perche' e' la nascita del nostro Re e Salvatore. Noi esistiamo ed abbiamo una speranza perche' Lui e' piu' che una favola e ha acquistato le nostre vite con il Suo stesso sangue! Siamo stati forniti di talenti artistici per piacerGli e abbiamo ricevuto doni spirituali per servire Lui e gli altri. Io ti sfido a cercare il tuo significato, il tuo obiettivo, ed il tuo valore in Gesu' e nel suo obiettivo redentore per la tua vita, e non per quello che fai. E' l'unzione della sua presenza e del suo potere nella tua vita che ti permettono di avere una vita piena di talento, bellezza e successo. Promuovi Lui e Lui promuovera' te. AmaLo e Lui ti dara' amore per gli altri. ServiLo e Lui ti usera' per salvare altri. Ti auguro che tu possa celebrare Gesu' questo Natale ed allo stesso modo in ogni altro giorno. AdoraLo e onora il Signore con i tuoi doni e talenti! Arrivera' presto il giorno in cui Egli si rivelera' e la sua gloria splendera' sulla terra come non e' mai successo prima.
