Se mi rispondete mi fate un piacere perche' e' l'unico CD che mi manca del favoloso gruppo che ho avuto il piacere di ascoltare nel concerto al teatro Puccini qui a Firenze. Non ci sono parole per descrivere il concerto, ma chi li conosce bene sa' che non c'e' bisogno di commenti. A proposito, mi faccio un po' di pubblicita'; faccio parte di un coro Gospel al terzo anno di attivita' (che spazia anche su musica etnica e Jazz); ci chiamiamo Goober Voices e fra non molto, il 12 settembre 1997, avremo un concerto alla Festa dell'Unita' di Firenze in Viale Guidoni (ex area Fiat). Il concerto sara', spero molto interessante, perche' sara' fatto da ben cinque cori di Firenze che sono impegnati nella divulgazione della musica Gospel e altro. I cori saranno: Goober Voices, Jubilee Shouters, Viva Voce, Vocimania e il coro della Sound. Faccio notare che fra gli altri ci saranno i Jubilee Shouters che hanno fatto da supporter ai Take 6 al concerto di Firenze e che hanno appena realizzato un CD. Mi fa' piacere che gruppi come questo evangelizzano in piazza cantando canzoni a sfondo cristiano, certo adesso rispetto agli anni passati sono diventati un po' troppo rockkettari (addirittura hanno fatto canzoni di discoteca e Rap), ma sono sempre gradevoli, eppoi esprimono tutta la gioia di giovani nei loro balli durante la musica. C'e' una emozione grande a cantare insieme a loro in piazza, eppoi ci siamo andati con i fratelli del gruppo (Cellule di evangelizzazione parrocchiali) e percio' l'emozione era incontenibile. Il Signore benedica tutte le opere per diffondere la sua Parola. Per chi non li conoscesse i GenRosso fanno parte del Movimento dei Focolarini e sono gli autori della canzone che cantiamo quasi sempre a messa: "Resta con noi, il sole scende gia', Resta con noi, Signore e' sera ormai...". Sono una quindicina di ragazzi di tutto il mondo. Viceversa esiste anche un gruppo di ragazze chiamate GenVerde. Bravissime anche loro. Dopo alcuni anni suonando, scrivendo canzoni insieme e combinando fra loro diversi generi musicali, "Rick Cua & the ah-koo-stiks" hanno appena pubblicato un nuovo album con un sound che loro definiscono: "aggressivo, di percussioni, quasi acustico, retro-beatnik pop!" Un energico trio che consiste in Rick Cua (basso, voce), Tony Hooper (chitarra, piano, voce) e Emedin Rivera (percussioni, scatting). Chi ha avuto il piacere di assistere al concerto di Rick ad AstiGospel '94 puo' immaginare bene di cosa sto parlando. Allora la formazione era piu' numerosa ma il sound di questo nuovo disco e' proprio quello. Nessuno si aspetti il rock di Rick (oops) degli anni '70-'80! "Like A Cool Drink" contiene 10 canzoni piu' 5 intermezzi strumentali ed e' un vero piacere ascoltarlo e riascoltarlo. In esso si fondono diversi stili tra cui il Jazz e ritmi latino-americani ma non e' difficile rinvenire ricordi addirittura dei Beatles! Personalmente mi fa venire molta voglia di ascoltarli dal vivo! (Il prossimo Aprile in Italia?) Al momento non e' disponibile in Italia (forse in Europa) ma chi lo vuole puo' ordinare da Musictus! Looking for some new ideas.....not just in the music, but any part of the logistics. This is a secular concert, but we include a wide variety, such as jazz, opera, classical, inspirational, patriotic, etc. Piano, vocal, and instruments, and hopefully some ballet. It's a great way to expose some of the public to Christian music too. Need some new ideas....anything, from presentation, opening ideas, intermission, publicity. Last time I had a social hour after so everyone could visit with the performers. This year two of them have made recordings, so we'll have a table for them to sell their music. Rich was in his jeep with Mitch McVicker in route to Wichita for tonights concert at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. The jeep lost control and flipped, ejecting both men. Rich was killed instantly. Mitch is in the special care unit of a Peoria hospital. Rich's parents have been notified, and memorial service and funeral plans will be announced at a later time. We'll hope to have some of that information available Monday morning. He was 41.
