Sabato 10 Febbraio si esibiranno al Teatro della Fontana di via Aro' 52 i 'Gospel Sound', un gruppo di recente costituzione formato da cinque splendide giovani voci provenienti da diverse parti d'Italia con l'accompagnamento di una band di tutto rispetto. Desideriamo scusarci con le persone (cento/duecento ?) che non hanno potuto entrare nella Sala ed assistere al concerto. Purtroppo (orgogliosamente, dal nostro punto di vista) la Sala si e' gremita molto rapidamente e non e' stato possibile far entrare altre persone a discapito della sicurezza. Artista a 360 gradi, si occupa anche di fotografia professionale, poesia e pittura. Nel 1986 realizza il suo primo disco (Volo - La Sorgente Music) e comincia un'intensa attivita' concertistica che lo vede protagonista sia in Italia che in altri paesi come Svizzera, Francia, Olanda, Svezia, Inghilterra, Stati Uniti. Dopo un periodo di lontananza dalle scene musicali, ritorna con una nuova produzione (Fiori nelle mani - Morning Star Music) nella quale, oltre alla componente squisitamente musicale, sono rinvenibili aspetti e peculiarita' tipici della sua personalita' artistica. Giuseppe De Chirico ricama all'interno del suo elaborato sottili trame poetiche che, una volta decifrate, accompagnano l'ascoltatore in un viaggio alla scoperta di nuovi orizzonti. Fiori nella mani e' una raccolta di undici brani legati da un comune denominatore: "...ho cercato di esplorare il rapporto tra padre e figlio - rivela De Chirico - sentivo la necessita' di lasciare ai miei bambini una specie di testamento. Quello che spero per la loro vita e' che, nel momento della raccolta di cio' che faticosamente avranno seminato, possano ritrovarsi tra le mani dei fiori profumati e colorati. Tra le nefandezze della nostra quotidianita' i "fiori tra le mani" sono metafora di felicita' e gratificazione. E' questo cio' che spero per loro.". Il disco, inoltre, offre numerosi spunti per una riflessione piu' approfondita sulla condizione dell'uomo contemporaneo, continuamente costretto a confrontarsi con i disagi prodotti da una societa' spesso priva di indirizzi e risposte appaganti. Una lunga coda si e' presto formata alla biglietteria e nel giro di pochi minuti sono andate esaurite le sedie disponibili, tanto che si e' dovuti ricorrere ad altre sedie recuperate in tutta fretta. Sul palco tre voci "nere" (Masa Mbatha-Opasha, Harold Bradley Jr., Annette Meriweather), tre voci "bianche" a far da coristi e il maestro Marco Genta al pianoforte. Il pubblico ha caldamente apprezzato il repertorio dei brani piu' classici del Gospel quali Deep River, Amazing Grace, Oh happy day, When the Saints... e i brani scritti dal direttore del coro Mbatha-Opasha. Le sonorita' tipiche degli spiritual sono state miscelate alle capacita' vocali dei solisti (la maggior parte dei quali si esibisce abitualmente nella Lirica) e diversi richiami alla pace, alla fratellanza e all'amore di Dio per l'uomo sono stati associati ai testi delle canzoni eseguite. However, let me say why I thoroughly disagree now. We are at a point in time in history where the return of Jesus is imminent. The hearts of people throughout the world are incredibly open to the Gospel. The Christian music concert, which is as much a social event as Spiritual, is an excellent opportunity to invite friends or acquaintences. If the gospel of Jesus Christ is not presented in some fashion, then we have blown what may be the only chance to show the Saviour's loving grace. The bible teaches us we are to be held accountable for our deeds done *and* those that should have been but were not. This is where many of us miss the boat so to speak. While a full blown altar call may not be possible (I would not know why) then at least a presentation of the gospel that plants a seed is warranted. Folks let's face it, we can debate it all we want, but all actions have a basis in spirit. Either we act of the Spirit of the Living God or the spirit of this world. What does everyone else think?
