It is here that time has granted the light should still burn on… it is here a seed was planted in the brave heart, of an Irish son..." or something like that. I thought "What a fitting song for March 17!!" In fact today I got a phone call from an Irish woman at a bank asking if I would be interested in a credit card, but alas, I had to turn it down. Yet it was funny I ended up talking to one of the "Emerald Isle’s" daughters on this day. Turn on the TV and all you see is specials about the history of Ireland (what can I say? I am unemployed and have the day off...oh well.). All the TV specials seem to talk about is the strong conflict between Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants because of the British rule. What I am saying is, today of all days, let’s pray for peace for the two factions and for all involved. It is shame that spiritual cousins (Catholics and Protestants) who essentially worship the same God and come from one of the most beautiful countries in the world are killing each other...for whatever reason. Please pray that the peace of God through His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ will intervene in a spiritual and miraculous way... especially on this Irish Day. Thanks, Don E. Smith, Jr....out of Northern NJ (please not my Protestant/English heritage) P.S. I don't think they have any native standing stones in Canada but a few years ago I saw a PBS show called "The Red Paint People". The same thing is happening in other denominations except for the physical killing. Everybody is so busy trying to prove themselves right by trying to prove the others wrong that they often ignore the parts they all agree on. I'm one the the few charismatic types I know of who would openly admit that I know that the pope is saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. I can even see evidence of his spirituality in the news when he's in it. And that's hard to do these days. Pray away, mountains will move. I hope Iona has a song about it. That would be a powerful tool in God's hands. It could or should be one of those soul searching songs like "Here in My Heart".
