Please tell me someone else has the same conviction. I find myself eager to be there already. I dream of driving there, maybe being the driver for the first time, setting up camp; spending the days wandering from one concert to another and shopping in the expo tent; going to Mainstage every night; going back to camp, probably right in the middle of everything; sleeping surrounded by the distant and not so distant sound of Christian bands playing, sometimes all night long. Then, on the third or fourth day Iona plays on Mainstage, getting the final and longest slot that night, probably playing 'till midnight or later, with the full presence of God, and the Holy Spirit flowing like water. Ohhh, just thinking about it makes me tremble with excitement and a joyful longing you probably all know!! If I had enough room and all the right words to describe it all of you would be tempted to start looking for the nearest Christian music festival or even try to get to Cornerstone yourselves. But then, I was called to make Cornerstone my summer vacation and that enhances my experience there. (Yes, God does care about us enough to send us were we need to go even when we wouldn't think we deserved it.) I remember looking into Joanne Hogg's eyes from a distance while she was singing "Inside my Heart". At the part where she sings "Let me dance in the brightness of your throne" I get a revelation that we share the same reason for singing that particular verse. (See what I mean about not having the right words?) Walter, if this is too long just tell me. I can't ever be satisfied with myself anyway. Yes, we're here. What is this list about? Well, this list is for fans of the band Iona, a group whose music sounds like progressive rock mixed with Celtic influences, as well as other forms of world music. They explore themes of Celtic Christianity with each album, and they've been doing this well before "Riverdance" or the "Titanic" soundtrack made Celtic music popular. Currently, we're anticipating the solo release of lead singer Joanne Hogg, and many are making plans to attend Iona's first concert after a year's sabbatical. So, what would you like to know or talk about? I had a great view of Terl (sniff sniff, just lamenting the fact he is not with the band anymore) we were kinda in front of Mike. He was on the Left of the stage from the bands perspective. What I was really captivated by and I have mentioned this before was Troy was so interactive with the audience like he fed off of their energy. It was tremendous. I have seen some of the greatest (so called) secular rock bands of our time in concert, and this was by far the most intimate and the best musically that I have ever seen. Well, let's narrow it down to about twenty. OK Ten. all right five then. "Edge of the world" from BTS is my absolute favorite of all of them but I do have a lot more including "Flight of the wild goose" Live (oh Troy how do you do it) Some of the best jamming I have ever heard. Irish day, Revelation, Chi Rho If I'm only kept to five. of course some of them may change according to the CD I'm listening to at the time. ______________ To unsubscribe send an e-mail command to musictus@musictus.com In the body of the message type ONLY the following: unsubscribe iona or visit http://www.gospel.it/iona/mailingl.html ------------------------------ End of iona-digest V1999 #10 **************************** ______________ To unsubscribe send an e-mail command to musictus@musictus.com In the body of the message type ONLY the following: unsubscribe iona-digest or visit http://www.gospel.it/iona/mailingl.html
