My name is Hans Nijntjes. I'm 42 years young and living with my wife Andrea, my son Martijn (18) en daughter Danielle (16) in Zaandam, a (light industrial) town, about 10 miles northward of Amsterdam. I'm working at the office-automating department at one of the Dutch well-known supermarkets. I'm a christian for about 27 years. During all these years I had to believing-this and disbelieving-that, and finally learned that the most important fact is that Jesus is my Lord. That is to say: after all "this-and-thats" He is the only One that remains. I don't like traditions very much (I won't condemn people who like traditions). I'm happy to be in a nice Christian community that won't call itself a church, it is more like a group of christian friends coming together and having a worship-service on Sunday. My hobbies are computers, playing games (also non-computergames), making music by playing bassguitar (Ibanez VS Musician fretless customized) and motorbiking. About 6 years ago I heard the Iona music for the first time and I was surprised about the quality of their music and lyrics. And the last years they have been growing in these aspects. I like the Celtic influence in their music, because I like Irish (and Scottish !) culture and music. One of my great wishes is to be more holy (=like Jesus). And also I hope to buy a motorbike too one day ;) so I can visit the Celtic Lands on two wheels. I hope this it not too long (are you still awake ? :)). I like this site very much because of you all (and because of Iona of course). It is a bit hard to accept that Iona will take a sabbatical year, but I believe it is important to them, they deserve it too ! Does someone know more about the "family-expansion" of David & Debbie ? It is a bit sad that all the Iona-news is not directy from the first-hand. Hope to see you all, one day ! I immediately realized that the music, in great clarity, was Bi-se I Mo Shuil pt. I! It's great to see how many different people are discovering Iona. I have to give testimony on how God's "encircling arms" protected me in an accident last week. To make long story short, (it wasn't my fault) I was involved in a spin-out on the freeway on a dark rainy night at rush hour, and as the car was spinning I thought "this is the end", but at the same time I said to myself that "God is my Life" and I entrusted my life to Him. Oddly enough, I felt no fear at all -- just a sense that God was in control. I did a 180-degree turn on the freeway and collided head-on with a large pickup truck. Both vehicles were totalled, but the good news is that noone was hurt, and the driver of the truck and a witness couldn't believe that I had survived that crash unscathed. I have to say that I believe God sent His angels to protect me, as Psalm 91 says. Last Sunday evening I was listening to "Journey into the Morn" and realized how true these lyrics from "Encircling" are: "The Mighty Three my protection be/Encircling me/You are around/My life, my home/Encircling me/O Sacred Three/The Mighty Three".
